Chairman's Message March 2008

At the February Board Meeting the planning for the conference to be held in Christchurch, New Zealand from 12 to 15 June was finalised and you should have received your registrations forms by now.  The program is very interesting and educational with social opportunities for networking with your peers.  I am sure everyone will enjoy themselves, make new friendships and renewing old. Thank you to everyone who has assisted in the organisation of the conference.

Nominations for the Board of the AIE close on 4 April 2008.  Please give consideration as to whether you would be interested in a position on the Board to assist in the running of your Institute. This is a very rewarding task and it gives you a much better insight in to how your AIE is run.

Your CPD form is also due.  Please ensure that it is filled in and returned to Kate to maintain your practicing membership.

AIE is completing a policy on use of the logo in advertising and encourage employers who employ members of AIE to use the logo in their advertising. They must employ a member directly, not through sub contract and approval must be received from the Board to use the logo.

As WA is currently experiencing a boom, costs of running a conference in Perth have risen and we are looking at the possibility of Sydney for the 2009 Conference. This may also assist in bringing more embalmers from NZ to our conference. WA members understand this move and hopefully we can have a conference in Perth before too long.

Please remember that AIE exists for you and the Board looks forward to any comments from you the member to assist in the running of your Institute. AIE is also available to assist student members where possible and I encourage students to contact AIE if they require assistance.

Looking forward to catching up with you in New Zealand in June.

Chairman
